  i was reading the article posted in slimboyfat's thread: mormons decline because of internet, ( http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/01/31/us-mormonchurch-idustre80t1cm20120131 ) .

  former mormon church reseacher, ray briscoe was quoted: "i have never been associated with an organization that changes as fast as the mormon church.

  i don't think god was ever against blacks in the priesthood.

  i've often thought empirically mormons have an even harder sell than jws.

  the watchtower merely falsifies the date of the fall of jerusalem.

  Religion in general had it pretty good for quite a few millennia; information was not always free, private or easy to obtain.

  That's not the case anymore.

  Smaller, wimpier, less frequent and lower quality.

  Most of the new publications fall apart after just a little use. Maybe they're finally planning obsolescence so they don't print the litter-a-turd to last; they figure by the time you study it, it will be old "light".

  i have a friend, she has been my friend for over 20 years...in that 20 years i have seen her reasonably regularly.

  i visit her, she visits me.. the thing that has started bugging me is this...... when i visit her it is normally in the daytime.

  i stop in for a cuppa and a chat.

  I heard a story of a couple whose friends always showed up at dinner uninvited and expected to be fed. The couple was always bugged by this but didn't know what to do, nor did they want to hurt their friend’s feelings, so they came up with a plan. The next time their "guests" showed up they picked up all the dishes, took them in the kitchen, laid them on the floor so their friends could see, let the dog lick them clean and then proceed to put the "clean dishes" away.

  From then on, problem solved.

  So maybe you just need to do something really gross, your friend didn’t realize you did, that would make her not want to eat at your house anymore.

  and things are within a week or two of being d.a.ed/d.f.ed, and my jw best friend sent me an email to check how i was doing.

  i was fairly sure that he was very much on the edge of leaving to, or at least that he didn't believe it for a long time.

  so i sent him an email in reply and told him basically everything i believed and the reasons i knew jws are not the true religion, and i also told him i was leaving.

  They only look serene and uniform because any and all who protest, or object, are ejected from their midst.

  Strict submission is not peace; when they say, “obey or you're out”, that's not peaceful.

  Their superficial harmony is only and illusionary byproduct of expelling all who don't conform.

  i just came back from shopping, was about to pull up in the driveway and noticed an elder from my old hall and his young child working the territory.. i waited till they left and parked.

  i noticed i was the only one who got a memorial invite, none of my neighbors got one.

  so they weren't working the territory but stopped by to give me an invite.

  the poster was asked, as it typical of such hearings, a series of highly personal and extremely intrusive questions regarding their sexual activities.

  The only time I've ever been pulled in the "pink room" was when someone else spilled the beans on something WE did. I knew I had to admit it, but I lied through my teeth about how sorry I was and how bad it made me feel. (The truth is I had a blast and don't regret it one bit.) I always knew it wasn't "the truth" but this just cemented that belief because I only had to give them what they wanted and case closed, I thought if this were God's arrangement and they are guided by holy spirit I couldn't have gotten away with it; but I did.

  in paragraphs 15 & 16, it gets worse; this is the question asked - "what benefits will the royal priesthood bring to mankind?".

  So in other words were suppose to stand in line and wait for them to administer whatever medication, I mean blessings, they say for us metal patients?

  This is the equivalent of stating, "You don't need to see a doctor or pharmacist because we are going to give you the pills ourselves. Don’t worry, we've seen the doctor for you and visited the pharmacy too, so just swallow your medicine and everything will be fine, we think.”

  Such arrogance!
